What's happening in Craig's world - May 2015

As ever it’s been a busy month on and off the track, with lots of racking up frequent flyer points as I’ve been to Melbourne a couple of times, Perth and even Rockhampton.

While racing is at the core of what I do, I’ve had race meetings these past four weeks in Perth and regional Victoria, I’m also kept busy with various team and personal sponsor activities all over the place.

I don’t mind flying and I’m not complaining, but I don’t know anyone who does it regularly who says they don’t find it tiring.

That said, we were able to extend our trip over in Perth for the V8 Supercar round there to catch up with family and friends, so it was a good break for us.

I did also enjoy a relaxed and funny day with Adam Gilchrist in Rockhampton, attending the ‘Beef Week’ festivities. We did a Sportsman’s Lunch while we were there and a bunch of other things, and got a great reception.

‘Gilly’ wasn’t much chop on the racing simulator but then I don’t reckon I’d be much good facing one of his deliveries either!

Terrific bloke, very down to earth … it’s no wonder he’s a bit of an Aussie legend.

Perth was pretty kind to us this year, with a second, third and fifth at Barbagallo Raceway, a track I like and I’ve had a lot of success on over the years.

The talking point was of course how close I came to winning my 100th Championship race.

Sunday’s race in Perth was one of those mixed tyre affairs, where it’s compulsory to use both hard and soft compounds, though how and when you used them is up to you.
